Are you thinking that in order to make your online business prosper, you have to differentiate your company from all other companies operating on the internet marketplace? Are you sure your brand is so strong that it can compete with lots and lots of competitors operating in the same business as you are?
What if you could truly establish yourself as an expert and an authority in a niche and inspire customer loyalty? If this is your goal you are about to discover the four key principles to successful online branding.
The first one is always your unique selling position. In other words, what is it about your company that cannot be duplicated by the competition? If you say ‘good service’ or ‘money back guarantee or ‘dedication to excellence’ you are simply saying the same thing which everyone else is. This is not a foundation upon which you can build a personal brand online. You need to really take the time to state what it is which sets you apart from the competition.
As soon as you have it, start your brand building from focusing on value, not on price. By offering a lowest price you will always be forced to make them lower and lower to win the competition, but that will not allow you to have a budget for research and quality improvement. Moreover, focusing on pricing takes the attention away from the branding, which should be your main value.
The third principle is always to connect a person or a personality of some sort to your brand. People don’t buy from companies, they buy from people and they buy from people who they really like. Even if you are not able to use your own personality, create a mascot or a personality to represent your business.
No way your competitors will be able to duplicate such a personality. This is called relationship marketing, and it is an essential component of branding.
Fourth, your brand has to fulfill some sort of benefit to the customer. In reality, a brand is a promise to provide the customer with a benefit. This is the only way to set expectations for your company to fill and so you better work on making the public a promise if you really want to make a strong impression. Once you have this, you build your advertisements and your taglines around the promise.
So revisit your personal brand and apply each one of these steps one at a time. This may take some time but you can be assured that the diligence will pay off in customer loyalty which will ensure your success.
